Did you have a visit from the flock? Many Duxbury famillies woke up on a beautiful August morning to discover a sea of pink flamingos on their front lawns. There’s a new gang in town-- they’re long legged and pink.
For the month of August only the DEF presents“Join the Flock”. For a suggested donation of $40, The Duxbury Education Foundation (DEF) trained flamingo wranglers will quietly deliver 20 birds to unsuspecting front lawns after dark. If you’re up for it, you can deliver these birds yourself and make it a fun family caper. The flamingos will stay on the designated lawn for 24 hours and then be discreetly removed. There are plenty of reasons for your friends and neighbors to “Join the Flock”. It could be a birthday, a way to cheer someone up, to welcome a new family to the neighborhood or just a nice way to say we support Duxbury Public Schools. The flamingos have headed south for the school year, but don’t worry, they'll be back next August.
Here’s how to “Join the Flock”. Please indicate if there is a special date on which you want them delivered. Send a $40 tax-deducible check to The Duxbury Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1264, Duxbury, MA 02331. The DEF is a community-based, all volunteer organization, whose mission is to provide alternative funding for innovative and enriching programs in the Duxbury Public Schools. The DEF appreciates the continued support of the community in enabling us to raise funds to support educational programs for Duxbury’s children.
