Youth Risk Behavior Task Force (YRBTF) - The DEF funded the development of curriculum in response to the YRBTF. The YRBTF is a community-wide effort working to address the concerns regarding student risk behavior. 

Link Crew – Pictured at left, members of the DEF funded link crew.  This innovative program that partners high school juniors and seniors with freshmen entering high school.  This year-long mentoring program eases the transition into high school.   Duxbury was the first school on the East Coast to adopt the program.

KIDS Consortium – The DEF funded a program that provides students with an opportunity to incorporate community-based work and learning activities within the curriculum.

See it, Say it, Write it - An innovative model created by speech and language teachers in Bridgewater that enables students to learn, build on and implement necessary language skills using digital information.  The DEF grant supported the purchase of computers, cameras and software.

SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard –The DEF funded the purchase of two additional SMART Board Interactive Whiteboards, which are being used by Duxbury Middle School teachers in the seventh and eighth grade science and social studies classes.

Kurzweil 3000 – Funding provided by the DEF for this unique reading, writing and learning software for struggling students.

Orff instruments – The use of Orff instruments in current music education practices is considered to be the most concrete means of introducing and reinforcing abstract musical concepts.  Purchase of barred Orff instruments was funded by the DEF for the Alden School.

AP Institute - Funding was provided by the DEF to enable three teachers to attend the AP Institute at St. Johnsbury Academy, ensuring continued accreditation of the High School’s AP English program.

Library Books - The DEF provided funding to update the library collection to coincide with the school renovation and enlarged library at Alden School.

Math Enhancement - Funding was provided by the DEF to develop formal graphing calculator lessons for DMS math courses, to ensure compliance with the Massachusetts Mathematics Curriculum Framework.

DHS Art Department – The DEF provided funding to purchase wall-mounted glass display units that will showcase student art, provide hallway embellishment and be compliant with recent fire code changes.

Historical Perspectives – DEF Funding was provided for presentation to Alden 4th grade depicting life and contributions of Harriet Tubman.

Economics – DEF Funding was provided for assessment tools for economics elective course at DHS.

Entrepreneurship – Funding was provided by the DEF to develop curriculum for the Entrepreneurship elective course at DHS

AP Spanish –Funding was provided by the DEF for a week-long workshop for an AP Spanish teacher.

Music Department - A DEF grant to fund the redesign and upgrade of the Music Tech Lab at Duxbury High School enabled the purchase of a ceiling mounted projector.   Funding was also provided for the purchase of a stereo and play back system for the Music Department.

Reading Database – DEF Funding was provided for bar-coding and database entry of Alden books.

Fundamentals in Integrated Math – DEF Funding was provided for curriculum development for grades 7 and 8.
