STUDENT LED GRANTS
Are you a Duxbury student with a creative, innovative idea that could improve your school and educational experience? We want to make it a reality and it's easy to get started!
This is a great opportunity to think creatively, develop innovative solutions, and gain experience developing and presenting a proposal to improve your educational experience. We invite Duxbury High School, Duxbury Middle School and Alden School students (individually or as a group) to submit ideas for consideration. All ideas, large or small, are welcome!
Steps to Submit Your Idea
1) Identify a problem or need in your school.
2) Discuss your idea to address this problem or need with a teacher or member of the Duxbury Public School Staff. All Student Led Grants require a member of the Duxbury Public School to assist the student(s) with the grant process as a sponsor.
3) Submit THIS FORM starting NOVEMBER 1st to discuss your idea with a member of the DEF Grant Committee. Please be prepared to answer the following questions:
- What experience or observation sparked your idea?
- Who will benefit from your proposed idea?
- Why are you excited about this project?
- How is your idea innovative or creative?
- What is the timeline for implementing your idea (immediately, a few months, next year?)
- Do you have an estimate of how much it would cost to implement your idea?
4) The Grant Committee Liaison will contact the applicant to set up a time to discuss the idea at an online or in person review meeting (approximately 15-30 minutes). If this is a group project, all students must participate in the review meeting but one student can speak for the group.
5) If the idea is given the go-ahead to proceed by the Grant Committee Liaison, a detailed Grant Application will need to be completed within one month for a formal review by the DEF Board of Trustees. Please see this example application of an approved Student Led Grant as a reference.
6) The applicant(s) will be informed if the grant has been approved within 4 weeks of the final, detailed application being submitted.
